What’s the Buzz?

What’s the Buzz?

I’ve been using the Google Buzz lately with a few friends and to be honest, I haven’t really figured out a productive way to use it. But it’s sure fun writing things that don’t matter and having people comment on them.

For instance – April 2, 2010:

Jessica Reiche -what’s the buzzzzz people? haha
Andrew Silverman - That was so corny even I wouldn’t have said it! (I think I like it though)
Jessica Reiche - haha well we all can’t be me
Andrew Silverman - No, that might be scary!

See? Pointless. But fun.

So with the crazy warm, beautifully sunny NY weather we’re having I decided to keep with this “pointless, but fun” theme for my blog post today. I want to know what you guys are into lately. Ya know, movies, tv, music, games etc.

I’ll start it off…here’s what I’m into lately:

Movies: Still obsessed with “Dan in Real Life”. Brought “Hot Rod” back into the rotation of movies. Really loved “Whip It” and can’t wait to buy it once it’s under $20. Looking forward to checking out the Alvin and the Chipmunks Squeakquel & Toy Story 3 when it’s released in May.

TV: On a hiatus from the Gilmore Girls but found a new way to watch hilarious Lauren Graham. On Tuesdays she’s now on the new show Parenthood (loosely based on the 1980s movie). I’m also into 10 Things I Hate About You (loosely based on the 1990s movie & very loosely based on Shakespeare). Scrubs seems to be on break but still enjoying The Office & 30 Rock. From the DVD I have to admit that I still enjoy an episode of 2 of Hannah Montana. Yes, I’m 10 years old.

Music: Have to say that I’m really into Neon Horse right now. And Hawk Nelson. And actually listening to some old Christian ska music like Five Iron Frenzy. Digging the Beatles as always and Daft Punk is always on the list.

Books: Chris’ mom lent me a book called “Plain Perfect” that I’m digging but most of my reading time is spent in the “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” book and “Baby Wise” as well as the bible. I’m reading through 2 Corinthians right now but keep getting drawn back to the Psalms every few days.

Hobbies: I’m working on a cross-stitch for Charlotte. It’s really cute. I hope to finish it before she turns 3 haha. Also enjoying my hunt for coupons and great ways to save money now that we have some new expenses coming our way.

So that’s it for me. How about you? What are you into?

Movies Movies Movies!

Anyone that knows me knows that I love movies. On a lazy weekend I can seriously watch 3 movies/day.

With watching that many movies, it’s inevitable that sometimes I reach slumps where I just have nothing I want to watch that I haven’t already seen. So here is where you come in!

What are your favorite movies? I want to know!! Leave a comment with some of them and why you love them if you want to share :)

New Music Tuesday:Hawk Nelson

New Music Tuesday:Hawk Nelson

Hawk Nelson, the Canadian Christian pop-rock band that continually answers the call for fun music, has just released what may be the best of their albums yet. Depending on your opinion of the band and how serious you take yourself and your musical interest, you may think this isn’t accomplishing much. But give it a try. You’ll be surprised by a few of the tracks that are quite a bit deeper than the ones played on Christian radio stations. Take a few minutes and have a laugh with their latest music video for Live Life Loud.

Fun Thoughts for Friday

I got this from my bud Rachel. Some were worthy of commenting on so I hope you enjoy and comment too! I love hearing your stories. Happy Friday everyone!! And sorry about the different fonts – I’m a bit blog challenged today :)

Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you’re going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you’re crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk. – I do this at some point EVERY time I’m in the city. Last trip it consisted of waiting for the same light to change 3 times. It was amazingly embarrassing.

Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn’t work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ’s. We just figured it out. Today’s kids are soft.- haha some days I thought I was going to faint from blowing so hard!

There is a great need for sarcasm font. - SERIOUSLY! I misinterpret people ALL of the time. This would save us techies from so much drama!

Sometimes, I’ll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what was going on when I first saw it. - I would like to change this to “most of the time.” It’s amazing the topics and jokes that are in movies and tv shows that are “kid friendly.”

I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I’ll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone’s laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I’m still the only one who really, really gets it. - I’m worse. I tap their arms and say “isn’t that funny?” if I see them not laughing – right Chris? ;)

I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text. - Actually for me I look for the red lights in the morning so I can sip my coffee/tea and find out if it’s too hot (if I sip it while driving I often burn myself by hitting a bump). If it’s in the afternoon I look for the red lights so I can grab cds that are in the passenger door area.

Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying. - haha the torture of my college years.

How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear what they said?- again, me. I’m situationally deaf.

Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using ‘as in’ examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss’s last name to an attorney and said “Yes that’s G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummm…Goonies”- okay I seriously do everything in my power to stay away from spelling like this. I freeze. It’s like asking me a question with a timer.

What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

Bad decisions make good stories. – If you survive them :)

If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible. - haha I love this!

Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I’m from, this shouldn’t be a problem….

Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don’t want to have to restart my collection. - I agreed…until I saw Speed Racer in HD. And now I must admit that I’m a total geek and will probably be doing ANOTHER switch over. However, I will keep my DVDs as we keep our VHS right now. It’s fun to go back and realize how crappy the quality used to be and we didn’t mind because we didn’t know :)

As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers, but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.- Did I mention I hate the city because I often almost get run over by the delivery guys on bikes?

Sometimes I’ll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.- This happens to me all of the time. Not really a surprise. I’m also the person that will ask you your name 5 times so I don’t forget it..and forget it as soon as you walk away. I don’t have much of a short term memory.

It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.- haha I just had to keep this one.

I keep some people’s phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.- Not so much anymore but my ex’s number was in my phone for that reason.

I think the freezer deserves a light as well.
