I Recommend…
Every once and a while I take some time to tell my bloggy friends about some sites they might be interested in. These sites are never “sponsors” or scams…they are truly sites/organizations that I participate in and hope you will too.
1. Swagbucks. I post about it all of the time on facebook but if you haven’t joined Swagbucks yet then you’re really missing out on some free stuff! It’s a pretty simple concept with a pretty complex system. The basics is that you have all different ways to earn “bucks” (points). Then you trade these bucks in for prizes or gift cards (to date I’ve earned $50 in Amazon Gift Cards). There are daily tasks you can do to earn points (answer a daily poll, read a few ads, do a search using their search engine, play games), there are random ways to earn points (doing surveys, watching video clips, going to sponsor sites) and then there are special time-sensitive ways to earn points (special codes given out on FB and twitter, contests, collecting special bills on holidays etc). What you put in is what you get. You can spend minutes/day or week on it or you can spend hours on it. You also earn major points for referring someone (every time they collect points doing a search so do you!). Anyway, it’s really a fun and cool site. I enjoy it and so do a few of my friends. Consider it!
2. Recyclebank. Another program where you collect points and trade them in for prizes/coupons/discounts. This site promotes recycling, living a “green” lifestyle and ways to help preserve the environment. It’s a quick, fun way to learn and earn 
3. Expired Coupons for Overseas Military. Have you ever looked at a coupon and realized it expired before you got to use it? Personally, I hate when this happens – but I hate even more that I just have to throw it out. Well, no longer! Did you know that military families overseas can use coupons that have been expired for up to 6 months? I’m so excited to finally put my expired coupons to good use! This group is in the states so for the cost of an envelope and postage stamp you can mail them your coupons and they’ll send them to military families who could really use them! You also have the option of “adopting” a family overseas and mailing them the coupons directly. It’s such a cool idea and I highly recommend everyone that “does couponing” consider participating in this program or one similar. Every little bit helps.
4. And of course I have to recommend deeflash for new music to add to your collection Sure I’m biased because he’s my husband but if you haven’t checked out his music yet please do so!

New Music Tuesday:deeflash
Those mk837 guys are on fire lately! Deeflash just released his newest single “Missing You” with some killer remixes by Dima, Kevin Oneel and The Tribesman. I could sit here and write a whole blog on why you should check out the release but instead I’ll give you the inside scoop on this track that you can read WHILE listening to the song.

STEP 2: read my story. For those of you that don’t know, I work for a trade show management company. What’s that you say? Well, in the simplest terms, we manage trade shows at the Javits Center in NYC. So that means that 4 times/ year, when the shows I work on occur, I have to go to the city for a week of work. The company is very generous and puts us up in nice hotels in midtown and pays for our meals and all that but for a happily married couple, it’s a bit rough on us. I miss Chris like crazy and well, as this song proclaims in the title, he misses me too. This is a song that Chris wrote for me while I was away. It’s one of the sweetest things a guy can do. So as a result…my face is on the cover (and yes, it’s an old pic). I’d explain the reasoning behind the artwork but I find that it’s better to let people interpret it as they see fit. A lot of times art has an amazing way of expressing things that you don’t even see when you create the art piece. God is so cool that way.

With so much crappy music out there, why not support the artists who are putting out quality music that won’t eat away at your soul?

Attitude of Worry
It’s Saturday morning and like all normal households, I’m reading/blogging and Chris is DJing for his monthly podcast. Not normal? No I guess not. But either way, creativity is a huge part of our lives and we both agree that it’s how God speaks to us most frequently. Today is no exception.
As I’m finishing up reading chapter 6 in the book of Matthew Chris starts playing a song that (I think) says the word attitude over and over again. (If you’re into dance music you probably understand why I’m not positive this is what’s being said!) Anyway, so while reading Matthew 6:25 – 27 God speaks to me not only about the worry that He’s teaching us about in His word, but that it’s more than that. It’s not just about faith in God and not worrying about things beyond our control, but it’s about the attitude you have towards life. The attitude you have about God. You can have faith in God but still walk around with doubt leaking from your pores. Or you could have faith in God and walk around with a smile so big no one would ever question it. What it comes down to is choice. It’s our attitude and it’s our God that make life what it is.
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” – Matthew 6:25-27, NIV
Hmm…I also just read about forgiveness AND the song he just played DEFINITELY said forgiveness over and over again….our God is so awesome. I think I have a phone call to make.
New Music Tuesday:deeflash!
Today’s new music artist is definitely the highest on my list. This up and coming DJ/Music Producer released his first EP simply entitled deeflash EP
And when I say produce I of course mean that I listen to the song when he asks me to and tell him what I like and don’t like, often with guidance on what I’d like him to change haha. So with that said, I’d like to go on the record and say that I had a huge part in the success of Red Eye Every club it’s been played in explodes when the song comes on. And the “whistling” part is quite catchy! Have NO idea what I’m talking about? Well shame on you! Check it out now by clicking the links or images above. Prefer video? Canada Trip: Facts & Stories
So for those of you in the dark, Chris and I went up to Ottawa, Ontario in Canada this past weekend. It was our first time out of the country (well, except a cruise I went on in high school) and we had such a great experience. The car ride up was filled with beautiful trees and deep spiritual conversation. 
Then we crossed the border and had the excitement of seeing new road signs and landmarks we had never seen before. Around 8pm we parked at the St. Paul’s church where we were meeting everyone, across from the beautiful Gasthaus Switzerland that we were graciously given a room for the night by our hosts, HEAT Worship House.
Within minutes a very excited Rachelle came out to greet us and help us into our room. We then spent the night with Rachelle and Tyler setting up for the weekend and getting a tour of downtown Ottawa. Within the first hour in Ottawa I fell in love with the city. It’s clean and beautiful and unlike the city I know (NYC) it’s not crowded and doesn’t smell bad. I love the bilingual aspect even though I don’t speak a word of French and the architecture is amazing. The people are friendly and filled with life and seem really artistic and passionate.
It was a really fun night is quite the understatement, but is the only thing that seems to come to mind at the moment.
Due to some alcohol loving young b&b neighbors, we didn’t get much sleep. So Saturday was a LOOONG day. It started with a wonderful homemade breakfast at the inn and the best coffee I’ve ever had. It then continued with lunch at a cute healthy Cora’s Restaurant and then a visit to the Christian Book Store that James works at. We spent a while hanging out and looking at things around the store. We talked about the things of God and the irony of a gay book store being across the street. But eventually James had to get back to work and Rachelle had to get some things done so Chris and I were left with the afternoon to wander around the city.
Ottawa is the best of both worlds. It’s a beautiful city with lots of things to do and look at…museums and shopping, food and coffee…but within the city is grass and paths to ride bikes. Tunnels to walk under while looking at art and buildings to tour around. Sidewalks of houses and people walking dogs right next to boutique stores and farmers markets. And just minutes away are suburbs and parks…Canadian nature as they call it It really makes me reconsider my “I hate cities” mentality. Maybe I just hate New York City lol. And I’m not insanely thrilled with Philly either (sorry all you PA kids!).
Anyway, Saturday night was the “rave” – Psalm 119. It was a great time of dancing, art, God and worship. It’s hard to explain what it was like so look for the pictures and videos coming soon in another post! The rave ended at 2:30am and by the time we were done cleaning up and back at Tyler’s, it was 5am. We got to hang out with their core group eating ribs and rice and talking about God and books and their vision for HEAT. Although we were beyond tired, it’s definitely a day that I will never forget.
Sunday we woke up (after 4 hours of sleep) and had brunch at a Vietnamese Restaurant. We had Pho soup for the first time and mmmmm we need to find some closer to home! We then went to Rachelle’s to pick up her dogs and go to a park in Quebec. Although only there for a short time, it was a very enjoyable outing. I was amazed how quickly the signs changed from English/French to only English!
So around 3:30pm Chris and I said our goodbyes and headed back to NY. Although exhausted, our trip home was as great as the one there. It’s so wonderful being married to your best friend. Not only can we joke around and listen to music, but we have some of the best conversations I’ve ever had.
And about those Canadians…guys…you blessed us tremendously. In the next few days I’m going to blog about the deeper spiritual aspects of our trip but for now I’ll just say: I can’t believe we only just met you all. I’m not used to having such immediate, deep connections with people…it was a real treat. We can’t wait to see you all again and hope you keep in touch!

Hey ya’ll! This past weekend Chris (deeflash) and I traveled out of the country for the first time! We took the 7+ hour drive to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and spent the weekend with some really amazing people. I can’t wait to tell you about it but seeing as we got about 8 hours of sleep randomly in the 3 days we were in Canada and just 5 hours last night, I’m a bit pooped. Proverb31girl & Deeflash Travel!
Seasons of life are funny. One minute I’m complaining that I don’t go anywhere or do anything and the next I’m crying out for a few days of nothing to do but veg out on my couch. So instead of complaining I’m going to try and live in the season I’m in with a smile on my face and excitement for what’s going on. Not quite sure what’s going on? Well here’s the event calendar:
- End of June-July we were at Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, IL. If you haven’t already, check out my post on our trip!
- End of July we were up in Plattsburgh, NY visiting my brother and his fiance for his birthday
- August 8th was a big day here in Dutchess County, NY. Chris turned 27 AND his EP started being sold in Beacon’s new shop Dream In Plastic. Check out more about the special Dream In Plastic music, the EP release and the store!
- August 14 – 19 I’ll be working in NYC for the NY International Gift Fair. As with all work trips, I’m praying that God moves mightly in the contacts I make and conversations I have with people from all over the world.
- August 21 – 23 we’re heading up to Maine with my family for a (hopefully haha) relaxing time of lighthouses, seafood, water & sun.
- September 11 – 12 deeflash returns to The Gates in Harleysville, PA for a night of youth, music and fun.
- September 18 – 20 we’re taking the journey to Ottawa, Canada to minister with and to H.E.A.T. Worship House!
- October 4 – 10 we’re finally taking our honeymoon trip! Although the original plan was London, we decided that the Outer Banks in NC was a much better choice for us right now.
So as you can tell, busy times are ahead but man they’re good and God is so good for giving us these opportunities to work in our giftings. Please keep us in your prayers and hey – if you have an event that you need a dj or photographer for – I think I know some people
SPREADTHE(dance)WORD
Normally I blog about things going on at a specific time in my life. Well on July 7, 2006 I committed to letting Chris be “going on” in my life, for the rest of my life. So technically, this post is as relevant to my blog as any other post.
Most of you know but hey, maybe someone doesn’t. My husband, Chris, has an alterego. He goes by the name deeflash. So who is deeflash? Deeflash is a music producer, a DJ, an experimental extraudinaire and an all around talented man! The thing is. Deeflash is shy and doesn’t go around boasting about how great his musical stylin’ is. So I decided that as his wife, it should be my job to tell the world about what they’re missing out on.
So without further adu, please take the time to listen to deeflash’s latest podcast…and maybe you can even get a little crazy and subscribe to his podcast and hear it every time he records a mix! Every month is a little different musically but spiritually, it’s always the same. Deeflash does his best to deliver what God is saying to him through music. So here we go.
