What Will Be, Will Be
Howdy strangers. It’s been a while. Remember me? Well…remember my last post? If you don’t, go check it out. I had to re-read it before posting this blog and all I can say is “wow.” I was right on so far. Honestly, I haven’t thought much about what I wrote since I wrote it…but I guess what will be will be. I say this because everything I spoke about in my last post, has been so incredibly on-point with my life as of right now, 19 days later. That’s when you truly know that you hear from God.
That being said…was the easier part.
This part is a bit harder.
I’ve been blogging for a long time. I’ve actually developed some following. It amazes me. Thanks so much for reading what I have to say!
But the truth is, I don’t have much to say right now. God is doing such a quiet, humbling work in my life and I’m currently on a journey that isn’t meant for the public eye. He’s doing things in my heart that can’t be put into words. He’s opening my eyes to things that are meant for me alone to see. He’s opening doors that are marked with a sign “for members only” and the membership price is extremely high and the applications accepted are few.
So what am I trying to say? I’m saying that it’s official. As of right now, this blog is closed. Alive for people to read old posts but for the near future, no new posts will be written and published.
It’s been a fun and amazing journey but it’s just not what I’m supposed to be doing right now with my time. I’m sad and excited but I know that with God – what will be, will be. And things may change..but for now, my online blogging life door has been closed and I’m smiling at the other doors that are opening because of it.
Thanks for all of the love and support and comments and reading! You can still keep up with me on facebook and twitter and gmail and in person and all those other ways if you’re interested. And if not, that’s okay too. I’m believing that God has a plan much bigger than I could ever know.

Friday Dance Videos!
Fridays have usually been dedicated to either dance videos or funny videos or on my good days, funny dance videos. Well this week is a bit different but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Today I have 2 videos for you of my husband Chris (on the right) playing with Prayer Solanky at our church’s coffeehouse night. They’re not dancing but it might make you want to. Or you might just enjoy it. They’re cover songs but the music is all them I can’t wait for them to perform together again; they did such an amazing job. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Yesterday Taylor Swift released her new album “Speak Now
As with most of her songs, you are brought through a situation/story that emotionally attaches you to the characters she sings about. Whether it be about love or heartbreak or even a need for revenge, this album covers it all and it covers it well. There was actually a song where at the end I said outloud (to my tv i was playing it on) “so what happened??” haha. Her music tells a story while still having you sing along – not commonly done these days.

New Music Tuesday:Andrew Peterson
As a brand new mom I’m constantly searching for ways to soothe my crying baby. As a lover of music, I’m determined to find that perfect tune that will put a smile on my little girl’s face. I tried the baby tunes and the classical music as many people recommend but have had no luck. So what does she like? She likes Shawn McDonald and Brave Saint Saturn…and Andrew Peterson.
Andrew Peterson is a Christian, acoustic-guitar playing, singer/songwriter from Nashville who is releasing his new album “Counting Stars” today through Centricity Music. This album can best be described by the words: inspired, peaceful, poetic, pensive. Honestly, listening to this album I can feel the artists influences and surroundings: beautiful landscapes, love, God, relationships and the stories that come from these simple yet complicated aspects of life.
These songs, or stories as it seems, are put to beautiful melodies and are complimented by Andrew’s peaceful voice. Each song gives us a look into the personal life, memories and soul of this experienced artist; and to me, it’s what puts this album above most other singer/songwriters releasing music these days. It’s not about selling records or trying to invoke emotions from the listener – it’s about the heart of the artist and his art.
Check out Andrew Peterson and his album “Counting Stars” to hear the music that soothed the soul of my fussy baby and brought a peaceful, beautiful atmosphere into my home.

New Music Tuesday:Addison Road
If you’ve ever listened to Contemporary Christian radio you’ve probably heard a song or 2 by the pop band Addison Road. They sing the songs “All That Matters,” “Hope Now,” and “What Do I Know of Holy.” Well after what felt like a long wait, their second album, Stories, is now available for pre-order and is due out on June 22nd. I’ve only heard the samples as I haven’t pre-ordered the album but I can honestly say that if you liked their debut album, you’ll probably like this one too. I know, I’m not giving you much to go by but it’s because I don’t know where I stand on this album yet. I like their first cd. I own it. I sing along to it in the car. I worship to it in the quiet of my home. But I think part of me expected something a bit more from their 2nd release. But again, it’s hard to say based on 30 second samples. So my advice to you? Check it out. See what ya think. And support them if you’re diggin it!

Those mk837 guys are on fire lately! Deeflash just released his newest single “Missing You” with some killer remixes by Dima, Kevin Oneel and The Tribesman. I could sit here and write a whole blog on why you should check out the release but instead I’ll give you the inside scoop on this track that you can read WHILE listening to the song.

STEP 2: read my story. For those of you that don’t know, I work for a trade show management company. What’s that you say? Well, in the simplest terms, we manage trade shows at the Javits Center in NYC. So that means that 4 times/ year, when the shows I work on occur, I have to go to the city for a week of work. The company is very generous and puts us up in nice hotels in midtown and pays for our meals and all that but for a happily married couple, it’s a bit rough on us. I miss Chris like crazy and well, as this song proclaims in the title, he misses me too. This is a song that Chris wrote for me while I was away. It’s one of the sweetest things a guy can do. So as a result…my face is on the cover (and yes, it’s an old pic). I’d explain the reasoning behind the artwork but I find that it’s better to let people interpret it as they see fit. A lot of times art has an amazing way of expressing things that you don’t even see when you create the art piece. God is so cool that way.

New Music Tuesday:Brother Brooks
Some people say that in order to get to know a musician, you have to get to know his music. Nothing could be more true, as evident by MK837‘s newest release: Brother Brooks’ downtempo album, Salt Symphony. For those of you who don’t know Brother Brooks on a personal level, you’ll just have to trust me when I say that this full length album is a musical representation of who he is and what he’s all about.
I’ve had the privilege to listen to this album before it’s official debut and I can honestly say that it’ll stay on my iPod for the following reasons:
- Every song is different. No matter how much I like an artist, if you give me an album of 10 songs that all sound alike, I’ll only make it through 5 of them before switching to something else. This album is not like that. Each track is a musical journey in itself.
- No song is over 6 and a half minutes. I love electronic music but getting me to listen to a 10 minute track is as impossible as getting me to like ghetto rap music. It just ain’t happenin.
- When I hear tracks such as “Single Serving” and “Salt Symphony,” I can picture Brooks at Cornerstone dancing to his own music. There is something nice about an artist that loves his art.
- There is an overwhelming innocence to some of the tracks. “Simple Taste” and “Sleep Child” bring me to a place of peace and simplicity. I don’t often find that in electronic music.
- “Layover” is one of the coolest, most original tracks I’ve heard in a while.
- The album is just plain good. You can tell how much Brother Brooks believes in his music and has fun creating it.

Music Tuesday:Bradley Hathaway’s Joy
The word joy seems to be ringing in my heart lately so I thought, what better way to spend Music Tuesday than talking about joy? Not happiness. I’m talking about JOY. The type of joy that’s found deep within your soul. Your source of peace and contentment, even if things are hard or going wrong. The joy that helps you to smile in the rain and be kind to those that don’t deserve it. The joy that says “I want to make this person happy” with no expectation of receiving something back. The type of joy that many people spend their lives trying to find.
Bradley Hathaway, a writer,/poet/ singer/songwriter from Arkansas has a poem entitled “On Being Joyful and Content” that explains joy in such a great way that I’m doing my post today referencing it. You can watch/read it below. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
