Calling All Moms! Time Sensitive – Read Now!

Did the title catch your attention? I sure hope so! So as you know, I’m about 6 months pregnant now and it’s time to register for my baby shower! Chris and I are so excited but are also a bit overwhelmed as you probably remember feeling. So I need your help. We’re going to be registering this Sunday and I want to know:

What is the one thing you can’t live without? What brands are best? What do we NOT need that the stores will tell us we do? What do we definitely need to get?

This is your chance to voice all of the opinions I know you have – help a mom-to-be out!

Comment below or send me an email: jessicareiche@gmail.com

Thanks everyone!! Looking forward to hearing from you!

And for those of you wondering where your invitation to my shower is…the answer is that I have no idea. My mom and mother-in-law are planning it and i’m pretty sure the invites haven’t gone out yet. All I know is I’m having a shower and I need to register lol.

The major decision we realized was with the first child, we didn't really need a crib. The pack-n-play did well for us. If you don't need a full on crib, a port-a-crib is also MUCH less expensive and also more convenient if you are going some where that you need the portability.
    What was crucial.
FOR MOM: real quick what you should get to help YOU out:
    1. A few GOOD quality nursing bra (you can find ones that cover your entire stomach and only come down from shoulder, so you're tummy is always covered and you're not LIFTING you shirt for the world to see your happy shrivly post baby belly.)
    2. A hand held massager in a ball shape (from places like bed bath and beyond or bath and body works.) this helps when your far on and ready for labor because it will help your body relax. If you can't find this you can also use a tennis ball.
    3. Pregnancy band for your belly to help you hold everything up before and to hold everything up and in afterwards. This is a HUGE help just till you get feeling back to normal. Many women complain of feeling saggy and empty. It helped me a ton. (I had a c-section though)
    4. AUTOMATIC breast pump. Manuals are cheaper but they suck. CHECK WITH WIC because if you make under a certain amount a year they may order you one for free with a form from your OB. It's a great deal and worth the time.
    FOR BABY:
    1. A good nasal asperator
    2. Bottle Sanitizer bags for the microwave (works wonders)
    3. Dr. Browns Bottles and drying rack...you can also get a microwave sterilizer if you don't want to go with the bags. These don't leak so if you have to ever prop the bottle they won't leak after the baby loses it.
    4. Diaper Genie (or various off brand) You'll thank yourself later
    5. Full recline stroller and car seat travel set. A GOOD stroller. Ask Sharron Ciraulo (Nate's wife) about his one. Her mom helped her find a great one. It handles well in all terrains and is easy to pushes and storage below is great!
    6. Shade for the car window
    7. Back seat baby mirror so you can see what is going while driving so you don't kill yourself
    8. Huggies are ALWAYS the best, you go through more pampers or luvs so it totally negates how much less you spend.
    9. Toys to go on the arm of the carrier so the baby is entertained. Link CHains are really great too because even when they are older they like them.
    10. Musical light show lullaby mobile or lamp. (sleep is MUCH more easily attainable ) and the older the baby gets you can transition on some of them to more complex colors and pictures.
    11. If you're nursing, the boppy is GREAT!
    12. Swing or bouncer so the child can enjoy time when it's NOT in your arms, plus this also makes a good soother for a whiny baby (you can get vibrate and song features on some which helps too).

What is all hot air: (what I can think of now)
    1. Wipe warmer and bottle warmer. (we never used them...)
    2. Any special radio or musical device for entertaining (this is Pauls' comment) the normal cd player works so much better.
    3. Passifiers. They help for SOME kids, but not all. SO don't go all out getting them, you may find them wasted.
    4. Most breast care stuff is a joke. I had the pads, the ointment, and didn't use any of it.
