Scrapbooking

I’ve always wanted to scrapbook. I see the creations that people come up with and I get so excited to try it myself. I think it’s so cool to combine pictures and memories of your life with creativity. However, I’m a cheapo and have no idea where to start…so I never do.

I once bought a nice scrapbook thinking I would jump right in if I made the first step and purchased something. I think you can see where this is going…a year later I ended up giving it to a friend because I never used it. But here I am again having this urge to be a scrapbooker.

Does anyone have advice on how a money-conscious girl could get started? I often find myself going into a store, finding the scrapbooking section and either be completely intimidated by all of the choices and/or floored by how much this little hobby of mine will cost. Any help or advice you could give would be great. Or just let me know that I’m not alone and you haven’t started either :)

Thanks everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend!

They have a scrapbooking section I think at the Dollar Tree next to PETCO. I would say start at dollar stores. I have two scrapbooks that I haven't done either and I've had them for at least a year. My portfolio for teaching is a scrapbook but I didn't go crazy with it.

yes it is very expensive!! i made my sister 2 for christmas a couple of years ago and it ended up costing like $60, but I bought everything at once from michaels. Get the actual scrapbook from michaels or borders. The different paper, scissors, and other little doo-dads you can find at a dollar store (maybe not the paper but they come in packs of up to 100 at michaels). Also, look around your house to see if you have any old cards, ribbon, etc. that you can use. I used those removable book covers from a novel as the page once.
You can type “print projects” into google and it'll lead to a couple of site where you can just print everything from your printer if you dont mind using the ink. HP has a good scrapbooking print section.
Oh, sign up to recieve email from michaels, they'll give you a coupon.
