Julie & Julia
About a month ago it was my husband Chris’ birthday. One of the many surprises I had for him was that I was going to take him to the movies (something we don’t do very often since our subscription to obsession with Netflix began. I told him we could see whatever movie he wanted. He picked Julie & Julia and showed me the trailer with excitement. I was shocked to discover that my guy of a guy husband chose a “click flick” for his birthday and quickly convinced him that he’d prefer to see G.I. Joe instead. So we saw G.I. Joe.
Last night Chris took me out on a last minute date and we saw his movie of original choice, Julie & Julia. Let me tell you, I should have let him pick all along. It’s a great movie! I recommend it to girls and guys alike. Now granted, it’s not a “guy movie.” But a lot of things in the movie I think are good for guys to see/learn. Here are some things that I learned from the movie (without giving anything away that isn’t in the trailer):
1 – I’m not crazy. ALL GIRLS are crazy. All women are crazy. It doesn’t matter your age – we’re all emotional and we all get crazy from time to time.
2 – All women cry. Sometimes it’s “called for” and sometimes it isn’t. Either way, most of us do both.
3 – It’s up to the crying woman to pick herself up and move on. However, it’s much easier to do that when you have a loving, caring, understanding man catching your tears.
4 – Being a supportive husband is important. But we have to understand that these men DO have limits AND aren’t superheroes.
5 – Goals are good, but you can’t lose sight of who you are just to obtain those goals.
6 – Cooking is good. And yummy.
Okay, that’s all for today. I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend! And if you’re in the mood for a movie – I recommend Julie & Julia over GI Joe. Although the latter movie wasn’t bad either.

Ooh, I've been wanting to see this movie for awhile! Amy Adams is adorable, and Meryl is a force to be reckoned with.
It's definitely worth seeing. I actually want to go see it again
Probably would if the movies weren't so expensive these days! Maybe when it hits our $2 theater I will.
